PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM

The Photography Associate in Applied Arts (AAS) degree program prepares students for positons in the photographic profession. Students satisfactorily completing this program will have the necessary skills and knowledge to qualify for entrance positions as darkroom technicians, commercial photographers, portrait photographers, photojournalists and general photographic technicians.

The Associate in Arts (AA) degree program parallels the first two years of most four-year institutions offering a major in Photography, and many credits in Photography may be possibly transfered to many four year schools. See photography curriculum. Look at the special Photography web site.

Teachers in the photography program must have at least three years photography job experience (including part-time teachers) in addition to degree requirements. Regular photography faculty are Kenneth Pirtle and Joseph Walsh.

If you would like information, brochure, and an interactive CD-ROM (mac and pc compatible– with examples of student work and short videos about our teachers) about the Photography Program and the Visual Arts Department, please contact Professor Kenneth Pirtle, Chair, at P.O. Box 447, Amarillo College, Amarillo, Texas 79178, or phone: 806-371-5271,
or
email: pirtle-kd@actx.edu .
