GRAPHIC
DESIGN PROGRAM
NEW STUDENTS–we advise you to take these courses your first semester: ARTS 1311:
Design I The Graphic Design Program features two degree options and one certificate option. The degree granted is the Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) and is designed for graduates to enter the workforce. Many credits may be transferable. Majors for the degree program enroll in core curriculum courses and general education for their Freshman year. During the Sophomore year, students select their specialty option from Print or Animation. Graduates with the AAS degree usually enter the workforce after graduation, but may also transfer several courses to a design school or university for further studies and degrees. There is also a short Certificate program for those who do not have the time for the AAS degree. However, be advised that due to fewer courses in the curriculum, the graduate with a certificate with probably not bed as competitive in the work-force as a person with the AAS degree or higher education. Web design is included in both options, and additionally, pre-graduates create their own promotional web sites to show their portfolios and resumes on-line. Meet our recent graduates. The
Print option concentrates on traditional graphic
design for print media such as newspaper or magazine advertising
or editorial design, brochures, outdoor advertising, etc. Graduates
usually go to work in advertising agencies, design studios, in-house
art departments or for the print media.

Animation option is our second field of study, and is found in the television, interactive game, instructional media, and motion pictures film industries for both entertainment and advertising. Increasingly animation is used on the internet. Graduates will usually work for animation studios, game developement companies, web design companies, video studios, motion picture studios, television stations, and special effects studios. We know most of our graduates will go right into the work place. Some will continue their education at other schools, even while working as graphic designers to help them pay for school. Teachers in graphic design must have at least three years graphic design job experience (including part-time teachers) in addition to degree requirements. Regular graphic design faculty are Steven Cost, Alix Christian and Pete Gonzalez. Meet the Faculty. If you would like
