Program Information

Amarillo College's English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) Program welcomes all students who want to study English.  We currently have students from about 25 different countries.  The ESL program at Amarillo College offers Reading, Speaking and Listening, Grammar, and Composition courses.  ESL courses are offered each fall and spring semester in the morning and evening.

In addition to the classroom experience, ESL students also have two additional English-learning opportunities at AC.   Amarillo College has a computer lab especially designed for our ESL students.  The ESL computer lab features the English Language Learning and Instruction System (ELLIS) software suite.   The ELLIS curriculum combines graphics, full-motion video, digitized sound and voice recording, animation and text in a comprehensive and user-friendly environment.  AC also has a separate Learning Center which offers ESL students additional opportunity to work on their English skills.

Once students complete the ESL program they will be proficient enough to begin studying in the field of their choice.  However, all admission requirements must be met, which may include passing the TOEFL.
